Furniture Disposal Harwich

Furniture Disposal in Harwich and Dovercourt

Harwich has some of the oldest streets in Essex, and anyone who has tried to get a sofa out of a cottage in the old town knows how awkward that can be. EM Waste Clearance collects unwanted furniture and appliances across Harwich, Dovercourt and Parkeston, with a uniformed team that does all the lifting, dismantling and loading. The price is fixed before we start and you won’t need to move a thing.

Old town cottages and Dovercourt terraces

The narrow streets of Old Harwich, laid out on a medieval grid between the Ha’penny Pier and the High Lighthouse, are lined with small houses and cottages where staircases are steep and front doors open straight onto the street. Parking a van close by takes some planning, and large pieces often have to be taken apart to get them out without scraping walls or door frames. We dismantle wardrobes, bed frames and corner sofas on site, then carry everything out by hand. In Dovercourt, the Victorian and Edwardian terraces off the High Street and the post-war houses further out are usually simpler, but flats above shops still mean carrying furniture down a flight of stairs, which we’re happy to do.

Furniture and appliances we remove

• Sofas, armchairs and sofa beds
• Mattresses, divans and bed frames
• Wardrobes, chests of drawers and cabinets
• Dining tables, chairs and desks
• Fridges, freezers, washing machines and cookers

Single items are welcome, so if it’s just one mattress or a broken recliner, that’s fine. We can also clear a full van load if you’re emptying a whole property.

Recycled and reused where possible

Council bulky collections can take weeks, and many charities won’t take upholstered furniture without fire labels. We can often collect the same or next day, and what we take is handled responsibly. Good quality furniture is passed on for reuse, metal, timber and fabric are recycled, white goods go to licensed WEEE recyclers, and fridges and freezers go to licensed facilities that deal with the gases safely. Up to 90% of what we collect is recycled or reused, and we never fly-tip.

EM Waste Clearance is family run with more than 15 years’ experience. We’re fully licensed and insured, registered with the Environment Agency as a waste carrier (CBDU333885), and we give you a waste transfer note on every job. We cover Harwich, Dovercourt, Parkeston, Ramsey, Little Oakley, Great Oakley and across to Mistley and Manningtree.
