Furniture Disposal Colchester

Furniture Disposal in Colchester and Surrounding Villages

Colchester is Britain’s oldest recorded town, and its homes span centuries. Timber-framed cottages in the Dutch Quarter sit a short walk from Victorian terraces off Maldon Road, while Highwoods, Stanway and Greenstead are full of later family housing and the Hythe has a growing number of riverside flats. EM Waste Clearance covers Colchester and its CO1 to CO4 postcodes, collecting unwanted furniture from homes of every age and size.

Old buildings, narrow doorways

Getting a modern sofa out of a listed cottage or a tall Victorian townhouse can be tricky. Low beams, winding staircases and narrow front doors are part of the charm, but they’re not designed for a king-size bed frame. Our two or three person team takes bulky pieces apart on site where necessary, so we can get them out without damaging walls, doorways or original features. In flats near the town centre and along the river, we collect from any floor, with or without a lift. You never need to carry anything to the kerb yourself.

Furniture we collect

• Sofas, armchairs, sofa beds and footstools
• Single, double and king-size mattresses and bed frames
• Wardrobes, dressing tables, chests of drawers and cabinets
• Dining tables, kitchen chairs, desks and bookcases
• Fridges, freezers, washing machines, tumble dryers and cookers

Whether it’s one item or a full van load from a house move, we price the job on the space it takes up in the van and the access. You’ll have a fixed price before we begin.

Reuse and recycling

Good quality furniture is passed on for reuse wherever possible. Everything else is broken down so metal, timber and fabric can be recycled. White goods go to licensed WEEE recyclers, and fridges and freezers are taken to licensed facilities that deal with the gases safely. Up to 90% of what we collect is recycled or reused, and we never fly-tip. You’ll receive a waste transfer note for every Colchester collection.

Council bulky collections can take weeks, and many charities won’t take upholstered items without fire labels. That’s where we come in. Whether you need sofa disposal before a new suite arrives or you’re clearing a student let at the end of term, we can often help on the same day or the next. We’re a family run firm with 15+ years’ experience, fully licensed and insured, and registered with the Environment Agency (CBDU333885). We also cover nearby villages including Wivenhoe, Rowhedge, Marks Tey and West Mersea.
